Another cool find this weekend! I was browsing in a local consignment store on Friday, searching for the perfect dresser for our master bedroom, and I found this completely handsewn vintage Dresden quilt.
(Sorry for the boring pictures. It isn’t raining anymore, but it’s way too muddy to take this baby outside for nice lighting.) It’s about 67? x 80? – a large lap quilt. It has several stains and a few tiny tears. Someone repaired it as some point (in the 1960s, judging by the fabric they used!)
Because it has so many stains, I’m thinking that I will cut it up and use it in other projects. Is that a horrible thing to do? Better tell me ASAP because I’m going to cut into it this week! Look at the adorable mouse fabric:
It looks like vintage Mickey and Minnie, but I know absolutely nothing about vintage fabric other than I know it when I see it!
In other sewing news, I started a new quilt last night. It goes with my modern baby blocks. I’m also thinking about doing a matching floor pillow. Here’s a little preview:
